How to detect the integrity and leakage of polymer hose? What are the commonly used detection methods?

Detecting the integrity and leakage of polymer hoses is essential to ensure the safe and efficient operation of fluid transfer systems.

First, visual inspection is the most basic and direct method. Operators can observe the appearance of the hose with their naked eyes to check for obvious damage, cracks or deformation. Although this method is simple, it is very effective in discovering surface defects.

Second, pressure testing is a more rigorous detection method. By connecting the polymer hose to a pressure test device and gradually increasing the internal pressure, the hose can be observed to react to high pressure. If the hose swells, leaks or breaks, it indicates that its integrity is compromised.

Negative pressure testing is also one of the common methods. In contrast to pressure testing, negative pressure testing detects leaks by creating a vacuum inside the hose. If there are tiny leaks in the hose, the vacuum state will be difficult to maintain, indicating the location of the leak.

The dye test is suitable for detecting tiny leaks that are difficult to find by visual or pressure testing. Inject dye into the hose and observe whether there is color seepage on the outside. This method is very effective in locating leaks.

Ultrasonic testing is a high-tech detection method. It uses the characteristics of ultrasonic waves propagating in materials. When encountering defects or leaks, ultrasonic waves will be reflected or scattered. By analyzing the signals of reflected waves or scattered waves, the integrity of the hose can be accurately judged.

The conductivity test is suitable for detecting corrosion or perforation of the inner wall of the polymer hose. Insert the conductivity sensor into the hose. If the sensor detects a change in fluid conductivity, it may indicate that there is a defect in the inner wall of the hose.

Finally, the air tightness test is a comprehensive detection method. It fills the hose with a certain pressure of gas and uses an air tightness detector to monitor gas leakage. This method can comprehensively evaluate the sealing performance of the hose.

Detecting the integrity and leakage of the polymer hose requires comprehensive consideration of multiple methods. Selecting the appropriate detection method according to the specific application scenario and needs can ensure the safe and efficient operation of the fluid transmission system.
